Row M Seat 30 #3 'Raising Helen' rated PG

'Raising Helen' rated PG
Helen help us!
Lightweight disposable romantic comedy is not only a specialty of Garry Marshall but is in danger of becoming yet another reason for Goldie Hawn to be mentioned everytime you read about Kate Hudson's latest movie role!!
This is an interesting premise and a pleasant enough laugh with some great character actors filling out the story [Joan Cusack and Hector Elizondo]. The successful 'party animal' and Manhattan based model Helen Harris [Hidson]is enjoying the high life when her sister and brother-in-law are killed in a car accident. Surprisingly the will leaves Helen to look after the three children and so begins the adjustment and learning about what that means.
Harris falls in love with Lutheran Pastor and School Principal Dan [John Corbett]in a cute comedy romance kind of way. This could have had so much potential as a story but will entertain fans of films like 'Pretty Woman', 'The Banger Sisters' etc.

For some it will just be a fun film and the way the central characters can deal with their different faith perspectives had potential and may promote discussion.
