UnitingPeople.org.au

I'm away this week on the Gold Coast meeting with my interstate colleagues and both sharing about what we're doing and talking about issues, possibilities and initiatives we could jointly work on or take a lead in... from SA we've heard about research and a project focused on the Uniting Church as people from the church and the website and videos or radio spots they are rolling out to make a mark in the community and open up possible connections people might make!! Check it out at UnitingPeople.org.au

Silverchair back in the Studio

The boys from Silverchair have been recording some basic tracks and working on potential songs with no timeline for a new record. Their 'secret' location might have been Ben's Studios on the Central Coast but they made a teaser video for their fan club to stir some interest. A more balanced joint collaboration would be good news for new sounds and a new record & tour!!

Another Great Motoring Moment

Friends who know me well should be reassured that this is not in fact some footage from my own motoring highlights reel, though it could easily make the list which makes some impressive and hilarious reading... but either way this is definitely NOT how to get your 4WD out of a bog!!

My list includes:

Many memorable empty fuel tanks including Christmas Eve

Brake pads so worn they fell out

A siezed motor on the F3

Being run into in an accident on my way to my first day at work

Being run into at lights just a day after posting my overdue insurance premium leading to a seven week enquiry

A burnt out starter motor from holding the ignition on to get to the auto electrician

My Mitsubishi Van fireball when the car caught alight and was gutted just off Pennant Hills Rd

A rusted out Carolla I left with a wrecker and he didn't charge me for taking it

Electronic failure in my Commodore just as I entered the Harbour Tunnel leaving the rugby That's the highlights anyhow...

Video for NCYC09

Just to avoid doing more prep work right now I thought I'd post one of the audio-visuals I've prepared for Bible Study at NCYC09 in Melbourne... way too much to do, way too little time!!

It's for "Ugly" theme day as an open ended intro about us 'getting ugly' in response to who Jesus spent time with and who we are called to be and what we're called to build... the world lived according to the values of God!!

Unearthed Event

I'm contributing some simple elements to a worship kick off for this event being championed by Naomi Nash and our UCA ELM Centre which is aimed at cracking open theology and stuff for young adults!!
The first is an opening, adoration, thanks and confession [owning up to our shortfalls] which will be accompanied by a spoken intro and the second will include an invitation to light a tealight and place it on a world map 'somewhere needing the light of Christ.'

They were both made with Photo Story 3 that saves powerpoint like animations as windows media files so they can be used alone or pasted into a longer powerpoint with other elements.

"From Little Things Big Things Grow"

GetUp and other collaborators have sampled Kevin Rudd's 'sorry' and Paul Keatings famous Redfern speech alongside some clever Aussie muso's and with the help of the lead singer from 'The Herd'... have released a fundraising new version of this brilliant Kev Carmody song!!
Download the clip and audio at GetUp.

"The apology to the Stolen Generations on 13 February 2008 marked a place in Australian history that The GetUp Mob - featuring Kev Carmody, Paul Kelly, Urthboy and Missy Higgins, have commemorated with the release on April 21 of the new GetUp StandUp version of 'From Little Things Big Things Grow'."
