Easter Thursday Reflections

  It's Easter Thursday and I am enjoying a 'Campos' coffee while I wait for my car to be majorly washed and cleaned... I haven't had time to deal with that for months!! I have passed on resources, I have a friends BIG birthday party in the Blue Mountains on Saturday and lots of family time to spend this weekend!! I will find a few moments to join with others [St Luke's GF program namely I hope] BUT it's again not one of those 'banging in tent pegs, unloading the truck, busting gut for the weekend' types of Easter's...
   It's Easter Thursday and that's a day to be reminded of how great it is to 'break bread' with friends in community. It's a day for thinking that every collaboration, creative time or even the most tricky planning could and should happen around a shared table... with some of your favourite stuff to eat and drink and whether the people are some of your favourites or not, it can transform the conversation!!
   I've spent a bit of time recently talking with and helping a number of groups plan and envisage a future and with each I have advocated for the value of spending time over food to do so... relaxed doesn't mean unfocused... it can create a cooperative spirit and hospitality is a great leveller. This always reminds me of one of my 'pet topics' of serving kids cordial and dry biscuits for a snack at a youth event... some of those places do the same with adults... I'm not suggesting a lavish meal or bought pizzas every time, just hospitable provisions that say 'you matter'!! Even Coles 'A-Cola' [as it used to be called] is better than 'Sunday School strength' orange cordial as it was then a 'made in Australia' product...
